So in my update post, I said, I'll show you guys my illustrations that are fashion related that I did in my illustration class in the past months. My teacher wanted us to find a book from a thrift store and use that book as our alternative sketchbook, so we could draw in it, paint in it, cut the pages, really anything we wanted to do, just as we would do art on regular sketchbooks and art papers. Every weekend and some days over the week, I would do a few pages of art, ranging from darkish to fashion related to cute. Some ideas were random, and most were planned, and most of the mediums I used were, watercolors, ink, acrylic, gesso, cut outs, glitter and embroidery. :)

I truly enjoyed doing this 5 month assignment, it freed my soul and my creative thoughts, it made me so happy, so I wanted to do a page of, About the Artist, and write how I felt about this alternative sketchbook. :D ♥

I love this spread, it's inspired from notebook paper, which then inspired me the feeling of school girls, which then got me the feeling of Clueless. :) Plaid, Knee High Socks, Daisy flowers & #Whatever ;D

Violet

I did 4 illustration pages of the blogger Violet, I've been a long time fan of her, and decided to draw some of the images of her, ones that I thought were cool and beautiful :)

I absolutely loved drawing her, it was really fun :D ♥

I love her beauty and had to draw her when I saw this picture ♥ :)

I felt the background was too empty and felt I should add something, so I added a speech bubble, and took the words off from a movie clip scene that she posted onto her blog. :)

Still life illustration, I bought wet n wild lipsticks and a nail polish in red shades in May, so I drew them, I wanted to do a fun girly magazine beauty section feel and for the first time, I loosely water colored, and I really liked it, it was fun to paint not so perfectly. ♥

And this is a continuous alternative sketchbook of the first book, because, the first book got in the illustration show, for a few weeks, and so I had to get a 2nd book and continue on with my ideas :)

For the 2nd book I put a surprise, a music sound to go with the paper doll spread, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper, I thought how perfect for fashion! :D ♥

I've always wanted to make paper dolls, I've attempted it in my teen yrs, but it failed, cause the paper was regular printing paper, FAIL! lol So yeah, now that I have proper art supplies, I really wanted to make one for this 5 month assignment. I enjoyed drawing, coloring and PLAYING WITH IT!!! :D Sooo much fun! It was like being a kid all over again, oh man, if I had this set as a kid, I would have tons of fun with it, because there's so many fashionable choices to put together as a outfit, it's endless fun!~

I def. want to make more paper dolls, but a bit bigger :D

RMXTUMBLR : A Strong & Feminine Woman

Rebecca Minkoff, Tumblr and Nordstroms came together to do a talent search through tumblr, looking for Artist, Models and Photographers.

The Artists had to design a tee shirt & canvas tote inspired by Rebecca Minkoff, and I guess Nordstrom's favorite type of woman: Strong & Feminine. The winning t-shirt will be walked in Rebecca Minkoff's Spring 2014 show at New York Fashion Week and it will be sold at Nordstrom the same day and they will get $5,000.

The Model will have the opportunity to star in a national fashion campaign for Rebecca Minkoff and Nordstrom, featuring the winning t-shirt and tote designs, and they will get $5,000

The Photographer, will have the opportunity to shoot a nation fashion campaign for Rebecca Minkoff and Nordstrom, starring the winning model and the t-shirt and tote designs, they will also get $5,000.

So I had to join the talent search contest, and these are my designs that I came up with of a strong & feminine woman. :)

The way the woman is being posed is to suggest a strong personality, and the color red means strength, and the flowers and the floral pleated soft dress is to symbolize femininity. :)

I'm sooooo in loooove with the tote bag! ♥♥♥♥

They're all hand drawn by me, inked in a pigment linear marker and colored with watercolors. The dress is designed by me, and the tote bag I drew in adobe illustrator, and as for the t-shirt template I got that for free from American Apparel :D

The winners were announced today around noon, you guys can read it on Rebecca Minkoff's Tumblr.

Even though I didn't win, I still feel like, I sorta won in some ways, because Rebecca Minkoff got to see my work!!! :D Right?! So that's awesome! I wish I could have been invisible and be in the room of the judges (being Rebecca Minkoff, David Karp CEO of tumblr and Jeffrey Kalinsky, executive Vice President of Designer Merchandising for Nordstrom), and hear what they had to say about my work ^^ lol, I'M JUST WONDERING, THAT'S ALL! :)

And also, I won courage and confidence to enter MY FIRST CONTEST! And I'm proud of myself for finally mustering up and doing this, because I've always felt discouraged to enter contests, because I felt I wasn't good enough, because there are artists that are way better than me, and that I won't win.

TRUTH IS....THERE ARE ARTISTS BETTER THAN ME, BUT....I thought to myself, "I shouldn't let that get to me....because, the judges have preferences too, and who know's they can like a illustration that's very loosely drawn, more like expressionist style of illustration over a illustration that's tightly drawn and "perfect" looking, you know? Some people will look at a art work, that looks like a 5 yr old drew/painted and they'll be like, THIS IS ART, THIS IS MAGNIFICENT! Over an art work that looks so skilled. So, you never know, you might just win." That's what I was thinking, and decided to just go for it, even if I won't win, I just wanna try out for it.
And you know what?! I'M GLAD I TRIED OUT FOR IT!!!
Because I created a illustration that I'm in love with, specifically...the TOTE BAG!
I LOVE IT! I want to bring this baby to life and try to sell it, the t-shirt and the tote bag. :)

Do you guys remember this candy from the 90's?

Anna and I were shocked/surprised to see that this candy is STILL BEING PRODUCED! LOL :D

Pretty awesome, and nostalgic! ♥ And what's awesome is that, when you open the wrapper, inside it's still packaged and wrapped up like from the 90's!! SOOO AWESOME! A BLAST FROM THE PAST! :D I loove that after all these years, they didn't change, they kept true to who they are. :D And the candy is still a nice big square candy piece. Because you know, almost everything is down sizing cause of the economy, and even starbursts have gotten smaller. -.- But I'm glad Now & Later still remains the same. :D

Doin my illustrator hw for my media art class.

My teacher wanted us to put a image on a shirt. She drew the shirt and wanted us to come up with a graphic design.

Sooooo, I put an old fashion illustration drawing I did back in 2008 on the template shirt.

This old illustration is based on Chanel, and its totally black and white, and when I drew it back in 2008, I did it for me, and I was thinking of t-shirt ideas, and when I drew this, I dreamed of one day putting my illustration on a shirt!

And, I'm happy to say, I'TS GOING TO HAPPEN!! :D THIS DESIGN WILL SEE DAYLIGHT, FINALLY!! LOL :D

A carved out cute smiley face on the concrete floor of the art department at my uni. :)

Anna's FIRST OIL PAINTING (the orange peppers), got hanged in a glass case by my teacher! :D

He picked the 4 best paintings and I'm soo happy and proud of my sis that her PAINTING WAS CHOSEN AS ONE OF THE BEST! :D ♥♥♥♥

This was her VERY FIRST OIL PAINTING she ever did, and she was soo hard on herself and was soo picky while painting her pepper painting, that she really wanted to be one of the best, hard work pays off! :D

Left over oil paints on paper, I folded the paper, opened it up and bam, BUTTERFLY!! :D

So awesome, I love it, I love that the wings really got the butterfly texture pattern, so cool ♥

Last week, I was writing a few little poems here and there, and from each poem, I picked my fav words, and combined them into this lil uhhmm...thought thing. :D lol. It was fun. :D
